Santa Claus Parade

The Mount Carmel Lions Club sponsors Mount Carmel's annual Santa Claus Parade.

The parade is held on the Saturday before Thanksgiving and begins at 11:00 AM.

Borough Christmas Tree

 

The Mount Carmel Lions Club continues their tradition of supplying and setting up the borough's Christmas tree. 

   

The Lions Club would especially like to thank Charlie McAndrew's Auto Sales for the use of the lot, Lions Warren Altomare of Family Medical, Inc. & Frank Zaleski for supplying the lights, and Julie & Robert Griffiths for donating this year's tree.

HOLIDAY DEER DISPLAY

Once sponsored by the Mount Carmel Police Department, this well-loved holiday tradition has been adopted in 2009 by the Mount Carmel Lions and Rotary clubs.  The display is located on the southwest corner of the town park (right next to the Anthracite Fire Company). There will be two deer again this year, a white doe and a spotted fawn. The deer will be delivered sometime on the Friday morning after Thanksgiving by workers of the Lake Tobias Wildlife Park of Halifax, PA and will stay until around January 2nd.

A "Name the Deer" contest will be held  so watch your local newspaper for instructions.  Cash prizes of $25.00 each will be awarded to the 2 best names.

The deer will be fed shelled corn and alfalfa hay.  The public is permitted to feed the deer ONLY apples and carrots.

As always, special thanks go to Mayor Jones and the Jones Family for donating the corn and the hay, and Councilman Williams for supplying the electricity for the Christmas lights, the Borough Street Crew for setting up the pen and all the local merchants, civic organizations, and concerned citizens who donated the money to make all of this happen.

Lion Mayor J. Kevin Jones is the chairman of this year's deer display.
