Borough Christmas Tree

The Mount Carmel Lions Club continues their tradition of supplying and setting up the borough's Christmas tree at the intersection of Oak Street and the Avenue, in front of the old Borough Hall (and Public Library), now owned by Melanie Williams and called

"The Shop at Oak and Avenue".

We'd especially like to thank Melanie for once again allowing us to use the property, Borough Manager Joe Bass, Councilman Jack Williams & the Anthracite Fire Company, Lion Dennis Stone of Mt. Carmel Auto Supply for providing his truck to deliver the tree, Lions Warren Altomare of Family Medical, Inc. & Frank Zaleski for supplying the lights, the Mattucci/Jankowski Tree Farm for all their help,

and the other members of the committee (Lions Tony Candelora & son Vinnie, Harry Hudick, Mayor J. Kevin Jones, Jeff Kanezo, Jerry Malinowski & Dave Shulski).

Here's a photo showing where the club set up the tree on Third & Oak Sts. back in the 40s and 50s.

Santa Claus Parade

The Mount Carmel Lions Club co-sponsors Mount Carmel's annual Santa Claus Parade with the Mount Carmel Retail Merchants.  The parade is held on the Saturday before Thanksgiving and begins at 11:00 AM.

Here are some pictures of the 2007 parade.
